Modem problem

Hey guys, I seem to be having an odd problem. I installed my modem and connected and all. Checked to make sure it was connected but, I could not seem to connect to any websites or irc servers or ftp servers etc. :/ Anyone know what the problem might be? I'm running Zipslack Linux 2.4.26. If you require any information, please let me know and I will provide it asap. Thanks in advance.

How exactly did you configure the modem and isp connection? Do you get a connection? Can you ping a URL? an internet IP address?
