Modem
Hi,
I have Turbo Linux, I am trying to configure the modem (D-Link data/fax PCMCIA modem) on my HP laptop.
When I run the KPPP program, I choose the port, when it quey the modem, it does not display any reply.
The help file suggests to change the modem commands, That is unpractical, because in this case every one need to have a manual and search for modem commands to put in that window.
Any idea what the problem is?
Buy the way, I am going to switch to SuSe release in a month or 2. I have seen it installed and running, it has a very nice GUI interface and much easier to use than the other Linux releases.
Goto SuSe.com and take a look.
Thaks.
Sam

First question I have for you is, Is this a winmodem, run by software in Windows ? If it is, first check out www.linmodems.org to see if there is a slight chance of a driver for it, if there isn't one, look at cards that will work from there.
