Mobile communucations

Evening all, my first post in these forums!

I'm an old hand in Doze, but a relative newbie in the Linux community! I'm running Xandros Premium Desktop on a Sony Vaio VGN FS415M with a Gig of RAM and am pleased with the results. I've been through the pain barrier with the conversion and am now a committed Penguin!

I have an issue though. I have a Nokia 6380 mobile phone and a Belkin USB adapter and having followed a few of the instructions found in this forum, can view the phone, transfer files to and from the phone, AND dial a landline number!

But, what I really really WANT to be able to do is use the phone as a G3 modem and be able to connect from sad hotel rooms when my work takes me away from home.

When I go into the Xandros Control Center I see all the USB stuff, under Hardware Detection/Network, I see my Wifi and Cat 5 connection AND a Broadcom BCM 9205.....device. Is this the phone?

If I click the network Icon and then Create Connection to open the wizard I get the option to create a GSM 3G (UMTS) / HSDMA connection. I click next and NOTHING appears so the wizard fails!

What am I doing wrong?

Maybe I've asked the question the wrong way.

Is there an initialisation string I need, the dial up number here in the UK is *99# but in Doze you see a user name and password being added automatically.

Do I need another piece of software, all I'm using at present is KBluetoothD.

BTW the phone is a nokia 6280, NOT 6380

Your input would be appreciated
