Cool Minicom is not working ..

hello guys,
i am using RH 7.2 , i am not able to run minicom . it says /dev/modem is directory .. when i checked with ls -l modem command in dir there is no modem . I am using external modem in serial port 1 ( same modem working in kppp ) .

i would like to run in minicom .. pls. help ..

/dev/modem should be a link ot what ever serial port you are using e.g. ttyS3. If you know the serial port then do a ln -s /dev/ttySX /dev/modem - if there is a directory called modem in the /dev/ directory can ya post what is tehre. also - what type of modem?

Addition to pbharris..

U can use -s option to configure ur port..

hi guyes ,
i am using Zyxel modem (external modem ) with port 1 ttys0 , i have tried with kppp & found its in working condition ..
but i am not able to open minicom.
as when i checked with ls command in dev/modem there is no modem ..

Juts try

#minicom -s

And go to Serial Setup
there set device as /dev/ttyS0

then save the setting and start working
