mii-tool lie to me

i have just changed HUB to switch in my home network where router/gateway is Linux machine.
To change NIC mode i used mii-tool as following:
mii-tool -F 100baseT-FD eth1 ( its nothing new to me i done this many times before ).
But it didnt change anything this time. I typed command mii-tool and saw that eth1 is still in 10 Mbit HalfDuplex mode... then i tryed to transfer some files form other host in local net to this machine...and.... transfer shown that speed is about 100 Mbit !!! So NIC works properly and i was lied by mii-tool... or what ? Did anyone have simillar experience? Is there any other way to check transmision mode from shell ?
