Migrating users from NT domain to Samba?

Ive set up a linux DC without too many problems (win2k/xp workstations have some snags loggin in, but i think ill have a handle on that soon).

if i was running an NT controlled domain with x number of users and workstations on it, and i wanted to migrate to a linux samba controlled domain, how would i migrate the user's profile and attributes to be as transparent to the user as possible? can i just copy the users profile directory from NT and drop it into the appropriate dir on the samba DC?

I guess i could set the users to local profiles, make the server switch, then change the roamers back to roaming, but what if i had hundreds of roamers (i dont, but what if).

I thought id ask while i was in process of getting my test environment up and running to try this all out.

Thanks in advance
