Question Merging Interfaces

I don't know what's the actual term for that, but I know it has been attempted before...

What I wanna do is the following ::

I have a DSL connection & a modem one. I can obviously connect to both at the same time.

Is it possible to merge these two to look like one connection?

So when downloading a file, it downloads from both interfaces ..

Or if that's not possible, maybe a load balance trick? if the load is heavy on the DSL direct some to the modem ..

What kind of tools, knowledge & hardware do I need? [I already have the fortune cookies]

* I was gonna ask this on Slashdot, but I just know that they'll get off-topic, as usual.

Thanks in advance to all of you.

You can't do the 'merging' unless the other end of the connection supports it as well.

Load balancing possibly could be set to work, but you'll need the right kernel modules compiled in. I'm also not sure but you might need the other end to support it as well.
