measuring upload speed

Hi all,

I want to measure my upload speed. first of all I am wondering how can I do that, preferably without installing any tool?

Second, I think I can do that using:
lftp -u username server -e 'put file'
but I do not know whether there is any free server allowing me to do that?

Any help is appreciated.

You could try speedtest.net.

It's not going to be 100% accurate and it is not predictive, but no speed test is, because there are too many variables on the other side of your modem that can change from minute to minute, but it's probably as good an on-line tool as you will find.

Thanks for your answer, but Actually I want something like a script which I can run remotely and run it for several times and do the analysis.

I found these. Maybe they will help.
