matrian destination


Does anyone knows wath means matrian destination or source from unknown IP in your log files?

A "martian" packet is one that shouldn't exist on a given interface. For example, on your internet connection, none of the following IPs should ever be seen:

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
127.0.0.0 - 127.255.255.255

Those are all "non-routable" private IPs.

if you mean martian then it means your network card is getting trafic from a range that does not refer to her interface, as example 1.2.3.0/32 packet (public) on a network card listening on the 192.168.0.0/32 (private) range.

Yes it is MARTIAN,mistake is mine.Is this some kind of unauthorized access in my computer?

no, only bad routing or spoofed packets.

Martians don't show anything about your local machine, only the network it is connected to.
