Mandrake with Realtek Card

I've suddenly got a problem with a Realtek 8139 network card. (At least I think that's the problem.)

I'm being told that the network is unreachable when I try a ping. First couple of times this happened, I could run Control Centre, get Mandrake to detect the hardware and it would work again. Now even that won't work.

When I boot, I'm getting a lot of errors most of which say error with modules.conf. I can't post this because I can't copy the file across the network as the network is unreachable. I tried copying to a floppy drive; this works according to Linux, but Windows can't read the floppy!

I can't see anything obvious with modules.conf, but then again I wouldn't know what to look for.

Control Centre can see the realtek network card, btw.

With this scant information, anyone got any idea what might be wrong, or what I should be looking for? Any particular log files or config files I should be looking for?

Just tried it. I get an error for almost every line in the modules.conf file.

It says:

invalid line in line x of /etc/modules.conf

where x is the line number

for line 1 /dev/hda1

lines 2, 3 and 4

none

line 5

/dev/hda7

line 6

/dev/hda6

line 1 says:

/dev/hda1 / ext2 rw 0 0

lines 2, 3 and 4 all begine with

none

and then give a load of other information.

The last two lines for some reason don't give an error. They says:

above snd-via...

alias sound-slot...

Presumably something to do with the sound card.

That any help?!
