Mandrake Webmin Problem

Have Mandrake 8.1 installed on a second computer.Trying to network with my main puter running W2K Pro.Able to network my 98SE setups with W2K Pro no problem.I've been using SWAT to configure Samba.Been successful to a point. Can ping from either machine via their ip addy and also by name.In Network Neighborhood in W2K I can see the Mandrake puter but when I try to access it from W2K I get the box requesting user name & password. No matter what I try- no luck- I have set up accounts on the Linux machine with my W2K user names & passwords.Have manually edited /etc/hosts,lmhost,samba user/password files. Do I need to add any info to the host file in W2K?
Can start Swat via localhost:901 but cannot configure Webmin via localhost:10000/.Get a "connection to localhost broken" message each time.I checked the miniservconf file > it shows Webmin bound to port 10000.
Also each time when using Konquerer when I select Local network I always get error message-(wish I could remember what it was).
Is there a way to get around this port # problem? Is there another port that I can assign Webmin too?
What am I missing with the problem of not being able to access the Linux puter from Windows even though W2K sees the Linux machine fine? Thank's- Dave

Let's see if i can be of "some" help, since i have the same setup like you. When W2k asks for a name and password, although i can't see what you setup ofcourse, try using "nobody" as username, and no password. I recall that worked for me the first time... (once I have webmin running again, after someone tells me how to turn off or modify tinyfirewalls settings :) , I'll let you know)

I really don't have a clue why you get a connection broken message, though. Webmin should work straight away after installation, and sharing enabled. ( btw, pinging has nothing to do with swat or samba :)) If it can't see you host at all, your browser should simply display, cannot find page, or something simular.
Are you sure you're not using anymore firewalls on either pc? Yes, you can run webmin on another port, but unless a firewall is blocking this specific port, i wouldn't see a reason to change it.

It works (used to work :) ) on my pc's.

Let me know what you find?!

Ah, but what's the full URL

See, if you use http it gets you the error you get.
Try https://localhost:xxxxxx

Just installed Webmin about 10 minutes ago and got the same... gotta read instructions carefully!

Did you guys install the latest version of webmin? It's standard on http:// and not https://. Try http://ip:10000
