I have successfully hooked up my compaq laptop to become router for my network. Internet works pretty fast. My main question lies in why the web interface is so slow when I connect from my client to the host. Takes up to 40 secs to load the page.

The setup is compaq with two nics; one connected to cable modem, the other to the hub. Problem is that it is not connected to the uplink port on the hub since I cannot get a connection to my lan. If it is connected to any other port it is fine.

Can any one help me with this problem?

PS one guy told me it doesn't matter what port the nic to the lan is on... Is that true?
