Unhappy Mandrake 9.2 connecting through proxy problems

Hi you'll

I am running Mandrake 9.2 and having problems connecting to the Internet.

Let me explain it in more detail.

I am in university and my Ethernet cards works properly. I mean, I have set proxy on Konqueror settings and it does connect to the proxy server and soI can enjoi the internet

I also configured the proxy (http Proxy) in the Mandrake general settings.

Thing is: I can not get mail form my yahoo and others email account, just from the university mail server.

It seems that the email client (I have tried Kmail and Evolution and Thunderbird - all gave the same error) can not get to the proxy servere and fetch the email.

How can I tell the email client program to use the proxy server which Konqueror uses with no problem? (I have had Fedora Core installed before and the client used to work fine).

Thank you very much.

If the mail setup is anything like my Uni's mail setup, then getting mail from external IMAP servers does not require any proxy settings.

I have Thundebird's proxy configuration box set to 'Direct Internet Connection'., and it works fine. The only glitch is when I get HTML mail. Then the proxy is required, so as the mail reader can get the images etc. over HTTP from the website. However, for normal inbox checks, no proxy is needed.

Are you trying to use POP or IMAP? My uni expressly prohibits POP from outside servers, it's IMAP only. This may be the case where you are too. The other case may be that both POP and IMAP are disabled by your Uni.
