I just installed MDK 9.1, i have two Nic's one is 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller and the other one is a Corega FEther USB-TXS , the system installs both ethernet drivers at install (one is e1000 for the 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller, and pegasus for the Corega FEther USB-TXS) the problem is that while i have the USB-TXS i can't get internet connection or Lan on the 82540EM and when i try to connect using Drakconnect it only lists the USB-TXS on eth1, but when i restart i can see the eth1 has the 82540EM mac address so in order to write this post i had to unplug the USB-TXS and restart, after restart i got internet connection and LAN on 82540EM, so i tried installing the USB-TXS and everythig worked great but after i restarted the same problem came up. i have tried configuring the NIC's over Webmin and over Linxconf but without success. What should i do? thanks in advance for your help....
This is not really a reply but sort of the same networking problems with Mandrake. I am having problems connecting to the internet on Mandrake 9.1 that I just installed. I have an Intel ether pro 100 card on my computer, and eth0 seems to be installed OK during bootup.
My /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/eth0 file is configured as:
The hostname of my machine is localhost, so that's what I am assigning to dhcp_hostname. I tried the DrakConnect wizard earlier but that did not seem to work. Any help would be appreciated. Are there any other files that I need to configure/modify? Or is the dhcp_hostname something other than your hostname?
Distribution: Just about anything... so long as it is Debain based.

Sanbehl,
Congrats on your fist post. Let's see what we can do for you.
First off, let's find out a little more about your setup.
You've got an eepro100 card (My personal favorite card and one that is VERY WELL supported).
You've hooking up to what (switch, router, hub, ?), and do you get a link light on the port to chich you connect?
Next, has this setup worked before for you? If so, what were the specifics of that setup? Did you have a diffent OS on your system?
I'm assuming that you believe you havea DHCP server on your network. If so, is there any other computer on your network that is getting and IP address? How do you know you're not getting an IP address? What is the output of : ifconfig ?
