Mandrake 9.1 can't configure high speed internet

I can't configure my Comcast High Speed internet. I'm using Mandrake Linux 9.1 on a IBM Thinkpad 600e and a PCMCIA ethernet card that won't connect to the internet. Can someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s It works already on a windows system so i know that it can't be the service.

Does it detect it in the mandrake control panel?

Yes, it detects the card as a lan card but it does not work after it says it's installed.
how do I configure it to go on the internet? Do I have to do anything special?

Also please tell me what other forums are good so I could get more answers.

Can you type ifconfig at the prompt as root. Post the output here.

what does ifconfig config do. I did get the command to work.
I used a tutorial I found another website but maybe its my ethernet card that did have a driver. When I start up linux it says eth0 FAILED. What does that mean.

bolinux,

ifconfig shows the configuration of the network card. You need to type ifconfig eth0.

You really need to do what adz has asked and post the output of the ifconfig command here.

Iain.
