Cool

Hi
I have recently installed Mandrake 8.0 and I am having problems with my Internet connection. I can dial my ISP but I can't ping anything or go anywhere from Konqueror
Which file(s) and what should I look for here.

I am using an Eicon Diva ISDN TA for my Internet connection.
I have removed speakers in Kppp setup, and my Init string is ATZ1

Any one ?

Thanks

When you say you can't ping anything what do you mean?

Try pinging 127.0.0.1, problem solved.

Ok then, try to ping 204.71.200.75 it's http://www.yahoo.com, try entering that number into your web browser.

Then try to ping http://www.yahoo.com, then try entering that into your browser.

When does it fail.

If you could even do the first try running ifconfig when you are connected, what did you get?

Cool Mandrake 8.0 and ISDN

Hello

I tried to ping 127.0.0.1 and it was ok
I tried to ping 204.71.200.75 and I got : "Destination Host unreachable", same when I tried to ping http://www.yahoo.com

There must be an IP adress missing somewhere or something like that, but I don't know where to look.

Not quite the same...

I'm a newbie... also just installed Mandrake 8. Everything SEEMED to be going fine, but I went to install the network, setup the ip as usual for my LAN, and the rotten thing wouldn't work... couldn't ping any other computers on the LAN.

HOWEVER, upon typing "ifconfig eth0 <my IP address>" everything worked fine, could browse the LAN, ping other computers and everything...

Now, my question: How do I make it do this automatically upon bootup? Currently at boot up, it spits the dummy when trying to load the interface IO and sits there for a minute (or more) thinking before continuing... got any ideas as to the files I'll have to edit?

ANY help would be muchly appreciated...

It sounds like you have a routing problem. I don't know much about Eicon Diva ISDN TA's sorry. Are you also on a LAN?

Try route (as root) what do you get? The default route is the one that says:
default mylinuxbox.fake.com 0.0.0.0 ..... eth0

If that interface is not your Eicon Diva ISDN TA then that is your problem.
