Mandrake 7.2 Network Connection with Linksys NC100

I am a newbie and I have no idea what to do. I just installed Mandrake 7.2 on one of my P.C.'s and it will not detect my Linksys NC100 ethernet adaptor. MY network runs dhcp on a 192.1.1 basis, but i still have no idea where to start because the system wont detect my ethernet card. Any suggestions on this card. Remember I am a newbie to Linux.

If you do a search on the groups in google.com for your network card and linux it seems there were a lot of issues with the older drivers.

As your version of Mandrake is old it could be you have the same driver issues as they were having. Is it possible for you to use a more recent version of Mandrake ? 9 would be good as it will have a newer tulip driver which is the one that is supposed to support your card.

Hope this helps.

I have done a search and I can only find information relating to 2.4.x kernel. I don't know if mandrake 7.3 is using that version so you might have to upgrade your kernel too, big learning curve for a newbie.

See http://sourceforge.net/projects/tulip for details on the tulip driver.

Again I recommend trying to get a newer version of Mandrake.

Good Luck
