Mail - Hostname issues ??

Hey all,

When I send mail from my laptop via mailx or web app it displays root@_HOSTNAME_.mynetwork.com. In the from section.

I am not sure why this is happening.

I have hostname set it starts up as boot echo $HOSTNAME echo the correct hostname. I have an /etc/hostname file with the correct hostname in it. And in my /etc/hosts file i have this:

Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost laptop laptop.mynetwork.com

Is there somewhere else the hostname must be set. I have postfix set up on a seperate box that I am using for a mail server does postfix need to know about this "new" box I just set up ? My dns server is fully aware of it name resolution works.. any ideas folks.

I think, that /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf is your problem. You should change the value for "hostname" to the name of your client.
