Unhappy madwifi and fc3

installed fc3 with the lan configured as eth0. installed madwifi*.rpm for my wg511t pcmcia card went throught the found new hardware deal and it installed my wireless as eth1. well couldn't get it to work. (probably bone-headed) i removed eth1 and now the only thing that i can see of the card is under hardware browser i can't get it to show itself anywhere else that i know where to look. everywhere that i read the card is supposed to be ath0. can someone help me out.
and yes i am sorry for being new i just can't find any data on my problem so i'm asking.
thanks.
Micheal

well, i'm pretty sure when you use madwifi, the card comes up as ath0.

type

ifconfig ath0 up

then type

ifconfig

if the card shoes up and it has "Link encap:Ethernet", then its working.

if not ....

type "lspci" - paste that in.

"ifconfig ath0 up

then type

ifconfig

if the card shoes up and it has "Link encap:Ethernet", then its working."

this worked but the device still does not shop up under any of the configuration menues (NETWORK, Internet Configuration Wizard, or Network Device Control) and the lights will blink correctly 4 times then the lights will alternate 4 times (in a loop)
i had to log in under root in order for the terminal to recognize the ifcinfig command. any other advised so that i can configure the device to my network and to get the lights to function properly?

yah neither does my card ...

god forbid you can't use a gui to configure it!!!

you have to use wifitools to get it working, download/install them

iwconfig ath0 essid URSSIDHERE
iwconfig ath0 key (if you have wep enabled.)

ifconfig ath0 up
ifconfig ath0 assignipaddress
route add default gw ipaddressforyourrouter/gateway
