Unhappy MacOS X Panther canīt mount SuSE 9.1 NFS directory

I have a SuSE 9.1 sharing a directory, so I can share with every Linux distribution. Now I have one client that is a Mac OS X (10.3.7) and I created a directory with "sudo mkdir /server" and Iīm trying to mount with "sudo mount 192.168.1.1:/var/directory" and it doesnīt mount it. What can it be?
thank you,
Eduardo Campos

On your Suse server, set the /etc/exports like this :
say your osx box is 192.168.1.2

# insecure option allow client to connect with port > 1024)
/var/directory 192.168.1.2(rw,insecure)

restart nfs server, portmap, then on mac osx :
From the Finder do command+k and give the server adress :
nfs://192.168.1.1/var/directory

Now look at your desktop, an icon should be here which is the mounted nfs share

Thumbs up It worked

Thank you! It Worked! But now how can I syncronize my Mac OS X users with my Linux users an groups? I mean I have a lot of users that are in a lot of diferent groups, how can I say to Mac OS x that a user has an id, and belongs to some groups with some ids?
thank you,
Eduardo Campos

Add user with System Preferences and edit them with netinfo manager to change settings like uid,
gid, shell, home directory...
