lynksys wusb54 wont connect

im new to linux ... just installed freespire 2.0 and i cant get wireless to work ... it used to be able to see all my local networks but now it wont even do that ..... ive checked to see that my driver is installed and it is , but it wont connect .... reading several other forums from what i gather i should have a wlan0 connection but no matter what i do i cant get one ... i do have a rausb0 connection though .

ive followed all the directions in the freespire wiki about getting a connection but through the whole wiki it says and if all goes well this is what you'll see ..... yeah well what if all doesnt go well ... they dont say anything about that ... can someone PLEASE help me , i really want to explore the possibilities of linux and learn it , but if i cant even get online im gonna have to give up

When you said, "it used to be able to see all my local networks but now it wont even do that", do you mean it worked previously with Freespire?

If it's a USB wireless adapter, then start with
Code:
lsusb
from the command line. Does your wireless adapter show up there?

If you do
Code:
ifconfig
from the command line, is your wireless adapter listed there?

gave up

thanks for the reply ... but i gave up after a week and following the directions over 50 times and re-installing the os three times ...

no it never worked ... on a fresh install of the OS when i looked in the connection manager you could see that my network and my three neighbors networks were available but after clicking on any of them and trying to get a connection , that was the last time a network would show up ... after following the wiki and all other suggestions from other forumns , i could never get a WLAN0 connection ... would only show the Rausb0 ... so i just gave up maybe i'll try buying a belkin card for it at a later date
