hi friends,
i have one doubt.
how can we make lvm with two hard disks.i have OS in one hard disk i want to make lvm with anothe harddisk with out formating the machine?
Please indicate which distro you are using. I used the Partitioner program and the LVM manager in SuSE to add a partition to an LVM volume. Fedora Core also has an LVM manager application. Otherwise, study the info pages for lvm(8), pvdisplay(8), pvcreate(8), vgdisplay(8), vgextend(8), vgreduce(8), lvcreate(8), lvdisplay(8), lvextend(8), lvreduce(8) and lvm.conf.
PS. Please put your distro in your user profile. Then we wouldn't need to ask.

solve my problem.
You make logical volumes by including multiple partitions. I doubt, if you can use an already existing partition/disk without incurring loss of data (may be unusable system in your case because of OS)
Otherwise you can create logical volumes first and then install OS by selecting appropriate options at the time of installtion (such option exist atleast in Fedora Core).
