Lots of problems with Xubuntu and wireless network

Hello. A few days ago I posted on the Hardware forums having issues with my wireless adapter (it does not work if I do not unplug it and plug it again), and I found no solution. The problem is that now I am having more and more problems.

The first two or three days after the Xubuntu installation I could surf on the internet perfectly and everything went fine. However, yesterday WiFi started to disconnect and connect again, be slow, etc. On a first quick search I saw that many people solved it by installing Wicd, and it was a big surprise when I did it and I saw that every wireless network near me is marked with "-1" signal. What's wrong with my adaptor? It works perfectly fine on Windows, and it is making me wanting to quit Linux forever.

If someone could help me, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: My adaptor is a TP Link TL-WN725N and I am using Xubuntu 15.10, 64 bit version

Hi...

Not sure I can help here but for those who might, please go here and run the script posted by varunendra. Then post the entire results using the code tags.

Regards...

Hi, first of all sorry for not being able to answer earlier. I cannot do the step 2, "1) Right-click the downloaded file > click "Properties" > go to "Permissions" tab > tick the "Execute" checkbox > close the box."

No checkbox appears.
Thanks in advance.

if you are ok with opening a terminal, you can also supply the info requested in this thread:

or at least as much of it as you can manage.

I had my card in a 4-usb port in one (don't know how it is called, it's like having 4 ports in one) and I plugged it in another port out of those 4 and seems like working now although the signal is very very very low. I'll post the results of the code you wanted:

Code:
carlos@carlos-System-Product-Name:~$ uname -rv
4.2.0-25-generic #30-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 12:31:50 UTC 2016

carlos@carlos-System-Product-Name:~$ lspci -knn | grep -EiA2 net

The next command makes my terminal go in an endless loop showing this (I took a screen capture).
Thanks for the quick response and sorry for being such a newbie :P.

http://imgur.com/jb6gzA7 The screen capture.

By the way, the signal flows from 3/4 to 1/4 sometimes and Wick Network Manager still shows my signal being -1 or -1dBm

No checkbox indeed: http://imgur.com/a/ayhL1

Also when I try to follow the steps, it keeps telling me that the file doesn't exist when I try to execute it.

Regards, and thank you a lot.

Yeah, I did it all correctly but when I get to the part of
Code:
./wireless-info.txt.c
or
Code:
 ./wireless-info.c
Neither of those aren't working. It says that the file or directory does not exist.
Thanks again!

PD:
Code:
 ./wireless-info.txt
Does work but it does not do anything.

Hi...

Which method are you trying to use? Method 1 bypasses all of that and the information available in "wireless-info.txt" is gathered automatically.

There are actually two methods....

"Method 1. Cable Internet - CLI Method (one-step easy way) -"

"Method 2. No Internet - GUI Method (multi-step but still easy to do )-"

Method 1 does not involve having to change permissions or anything, simply run the code below and "wireless-info.txt" should appear in your home folder somewhere...

Code:
wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && \
chmod +x wireless-info && \
./wireless-info
If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what to suggest.

Regards...

########## wireless info END ############
I did it with my wifi working atm, but still working weirdly, still have to unplug adaptor and plug it again everytime I start with Windows and reboot, still Wicd tells me that the signal is -1 and still I had to plug my adaptor in another port to make it work. Pretty sure it will not last long until I have problems again.

Thanks a lot for helping me. Regards.

Hi...

Thank you for spending the time to figure that out!

I noticed from the report that Network Manager is installed...

Code:
##### network managers ##################

Installed:

	NetworkManager

Running:

root 573 1 0 10:27 ? 00:00:01 /usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon
You mentioned you're also using wicd. I'm not sure why the the script didn't detect this but I've read from more than one source that having both managers installed causes conflicts. Did this problem start after you installed wicd?

Regards...

I uninstalled Wicd because it was working exactly the same... It started just before I installed Wicd, so I do not think that is the problem. But network manager also tells me like if the signal was 0 for every single network.
Thanks!
