loosing default gateway

Hello,

Freshly installed Debian 4.0 r1. After reboot default GW is set up.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth2
default sigw.local 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth2

After minute or two I lose it.

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth2
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1

after ntwork restart I get it back

Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
localnet * 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 eth2
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1
default sigw.local 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth2

Anybody knows the reason for such a behavior and why do I get this
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 eth1

Thanks
Mario

How're you getting the IP? DCHP? something static'y?

check out the contents of:

/etc/network/interfaces

There's probably something hinky in there. Post back the contents of that one if you're still stuck and we'll see what's what.

Cheers,

Finegan
