Hi,
I read similar post with getting the belkin wireless usb dongle to work in Linux. I am using a 64 bit RHEL system. According to
http://wiki.debian.org/rtl819x#Supported_Devices
website, this wireless device needs the r8712u module to work. I have checked the kernel config logs and found no reference to r8712u.
#uname -r: 2.6.32-71.el6.x86_64
#lsusb: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 050d:945a Belkin Components F7D1101 Basic Wireless USB Adapter v1000 [Realtek RTL8188SU]
I have tried compiling the linux driver from Realtek website: RTL8192SU
This gives, after many, many warnings of "cast to pointer from integer of different size", a 8712u.ko module. Modprobe of this module locks up the system and requires a hard reset to restart.
I follow this thread from
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1522815
but maybe the firmware is not for my system, or is just not working.
Clearly I don't know what I am doing.
I need your help. Thanks.
Alvin
