Cool Looking for an RARP Tool

Hello To All,

Is there a tool that will report the IP address of a device with a known MAC address. I’m working with internet cameras and at times the camera is at a remote site and the camera management tool will not list the camera (possibly due to the multitude of switches & routers) and I have to have someone local to the site to get the IP information. Normally once I find the IP address I can communicate with the device without error (Ping etc). Frequently the new cameras will get a DHCP IP address of a different subnet than existing configured cameras.

Thanks in advance for any ideas or assistance

Daryl Murray

The only way to communicate with a device by it's MAC address is to be on the same physical network segment that it's on. I don't get the sense that this is the case.

Other than that, you should be able to use ARPING if you're on the same segment.
