looking for a tutorial!!!

Hey guys!!!
can you provide me with some tutorial to enable a LAN between a slack box and a win box?
I have a crossover extention.

I Know that I'm able to use Samba, but my intentions are to learn some networking from scratch.

My Idea is to do some telnet , and get between the two machines nothing more for now.

Thanks.

You need to start by configuring the IP addresses and netmasks - ie:
PC1 IP: 192.168.1.1
PC2 IP: 192.168.1.2
netmasks: 255.255.255.0

Then you should be able to connect to any services that are running on the other machine using the remote IP address.

Also, I'd stay away from telnet and look at ssh [wiki]Telnet_and_SSH[/wiki]

and I will try the :

root# /: rm -rf

as you recommend!!!
