Login failure (with all outbound login's)
 
hi,

I have a problem with logging in on my services
Samba, ipop3 and all other programs have the same problem... it doesn't accept my users..

i think the problem was that i was screwing around with start up services... and might have turned something off what wasn't supposed to go off...

because the only things what are working is webmin & sendmail...
i also noticed that they both use a different login system then is normally used...

can some body help me?
i really need this... this is the last problem with my server... after this one i'm really done!

i'm sure i uninstalled or configured something wrong with my start up settings...
because it isn't normal when you can't login with any program (not even 1 pop3 server or something, is working, wile i setted them up correctly)

i hope you know what is wrong with it

Well, you say "Samba, ipop3 and all other programs have the same problem... it doesn't accept my users.."

That's pretty vague. What does that mean? What does the system tell you whan you try...how are you trying? Any and all info you can give might help to solve your problem.

Also: check the end of /var/log/messages or any other files in /var/log that look relevant...

Linux does not generally just silently fail.

i don't know if there's something in here... but it's only found within not even 1/10 of the file (it's pretty long, aren't there console commands to make it shorter?)

well it's only a few of them...
hope there is something in it...

I also noticed that my system don't tell me a thing...
in samba it won't even show a login username to fill in..
in ipop3 it just says bad login (wile sendmail is working 100% fine... and i configured everything correctly...)

i never really got a error except the login is incorrect

i got this in my local mail (setted up from my mail file not trough outbound..)

OK, I just noticed...you are using postfix _and_ sendmail. These are both MTA's, and they both serve the same perpose. You can only run one of these at once and expect things to work...

As for your unable to login problem, every service generally uses a different authentication mechanism. Check the docs for your services, read how they authenticate, and make sure both your server and clients are set up properly accordingly.

I am sorry I cannot help more...but the amount of errors/problems you have here is overwhelming.

I suggest removing one of sendmail or postfix at the very least, and go from there. Good luck.
