Logging into a Linux Server w/ Win2k
I'm in the process of replacing my NT 4.0 server with Mandrake Linux 7.0.
It's going very well, so far. I have Domain Logon, Samba, WINS, DHCP, Internet Connection Sharing, pmfirewall all going.
I have 2 nics, and a cable modem in the server.
I can successfully login, browse the network, surf the 'Net with Win98 and RH 6.2.
Before I trash my main workstation (Win2k), I wanted to check and see what issues (if any) there are with logging into a Linux Server using Win2k.
I would expect that I would have to "un-join" the existing NT Domain, by making the Win2k box a member of a Workgroup, and then join the Linux Domain.
Having tried that, I see the error message:
"Cannot log you in now because the <Name> Domain is not available."
I assume this means that Win2k cannot query the Linux box for the Domain Name...?
Any ideas?
