LISa Not Seeing Network Card

I am running Slackware 9.1 (2.4.22) and I have a problem.

Everything but LISa sees my network card.

Here is the lsmod run from root output:

eth0: Realtek RTL 8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xccabff00, 00:50:bf:5d:34:45 irq 11
eth0: Identified 8139 Chip Type 'RTL-8139C'

I have also added LISa to the /etc/rc/d/rc.local :

if [ -x /opt/kde/bin/lisa]; then
echo "Starting LISa Daemon..."
/opt/kde/bin/lisa

and that's that. I can see the LISa daemon starting, but when I goto Guided LISa Setup it tells me that there is no network card found.

What am I doing wrong? Also, this is my first time with LINUX but I am catching on quickly. Can anyone help me out?

cheers

You don't really need lisa to work. You can use a program to access your files on other machines instead(I guess I only suggest this because lisa annoyed me with how much I fought with it before giving up on it.)
I don't know if there is that much of a different between mounting a directory and browsing a directory on a remote computer, I just mount and it works.

You should know by now that you need smbd running and I think nmbd is also needed to be able to have a working network.
programs:
1)smbclient(this should already be on your machine)
This is a command line network browser that is nice but a front end for it helps in my opinion, I hate typing _that_ much to copy something even though I usually prefer the command line.
2)LinNeighborhood<--the frontend
This is the program I use and I really like it because it defaults the mounts to your home directory instead of /mnt/whatever like everything else seems to.
3)gnomba<--another front end
If you prefer gnomish looking apps you may like this. I'm pretty sure it has a function to search a range of IPs which is nice if the other computers are acting funny because I have had them not show up in LinNeighborhood but show up in this.

How would I go about starting SMBD and NMBD and what file should I add them to? All I have done with Linux is installed LISa to rc.local

I've also read that I should start LISa from root, how does one accomplish a feat such as this?

I am very sorry, I didn't realize I had never written the response, my computer turned off on me last time I wrote it up

To start nmbd and smbd
Code:
smbd
Code:
nmbd
To run lisa as root you either have it start on boot-up or use su and then run /opt/kde/bin/lisa/
It will not run if you just type lisa because su doesn't look in that folder for binaries.

You need to run your computer as a user, not as root, for safety purposes.
