Linux with RFC 2217

we are trying to make a Linux server dial out using an external Cisco RAS. The linux server should make use of the modem bank on the Cisco RAS and dial out to a Win 98 client connected to a remote modem.
had heard that rfc 2217 makes this possible.

Wanted to know if this is a viable configuration.
