Linux Windows Linksys Router?
Home network setup: Main puter-dual boot Windows 98SE & W2K Pro.Two other puters-dual boot 98SE & Linux Mandrake 8.1.>Networking between Windows pc's -no problems.Trying to network one of the Linux puters with W2K Pro.Have Samba installed. Able to print from the Linux machine to the printer on the W2K machine.Am able to see the Linux puter in the W2K Networking Neighborhood. At one point when trying to access the Linux puter from W2K > would get the username & password request box. Wasn't able to logon to the Linux box.Now I get network path not found message when trying to access the Linux box thru the Network Neighborhood. Still trying to get this correct.
Regarding the Linksys Router: DHCP Client table: the Windows pc's Host Names show up but the Linux ones do not just the IP & Mac addresses. My system boots up with DHCP. Wins resoultion & DNS are disabled-that is the setup with my cable company. Is there something I'm missing in the Linux configurations that's causing this to happen or is there something I need to do with the router? Thank's- Dave
