Linux/Windows FTP problem
Connected Linux/Slackware thru cross-over cable to Win ME computer. I tried telnet & ftp & they show a “connected” response, but do not prompt for user name or passwd. Seems to just lock & accept no further inputs at that point(ctrl-c to get out). What’s weird, is that a couple of years ago, I’m pretty sure I did the simple cable connect to accomplish ftp.
I have managed to get MY NTWK PLACES and been able to smbmount //winme/mydocuments /mnt/mydocs OK just using a cross-over. I had to add winme to /etc/hosts in order to get these two functions to work………,but still no ftp/telnet!!!!!!!!!!! Any idea why it stops after it says Connected, but fails to follow up with a User Name & passwd prompt?? |
It may be trying to do a reverse DNS lookup on the incoming connection. However, it should timeout and go eventually.
