Linux/Solaris nfs problems
Hi
I am in the process of making a file server. It is a dual PIII/1000 system running RH 7.1.
At first every thing looked fine, until I came to move the data from it's old home on an Ultra 5 running Solaris 2.6. I found that the nfs file transfure would lockup at a random point and no more data would be moved. Also the Sun locked up solid and any shells on remote computers died. If the copy is killed the sun comes back to life. This problem also occured on all the other Suns in the office when tested including Solaris 7
I have installed knfsd on the linux box and the late kernal patch on the solaris 7 box. This had no effect.
I installed Ethereal and had a look at the packets and the sun stops responding the the linux system. The linux system is still making requests.
I have tried both automounted (amd) and manualy mounted nfs file systems. I have also tried pushing the data from the sun to the linux system.
Has anyone any idea on this problem? Is it something well known? It is really driving me mad!
Thanks
Paul
