Linux Router, setup????
I am using a linux box that I am trying to setup to be my router/firewall. It's Runnig slackware 81. with the 2.4.18 kernel. I have two nics setup and working. One is setup for dhcp connecting to comcast, and the other is a static IP that I set What do I need to do to setup the computer to be a router? IPtables is installed.

all you really need is iptables set up correctly and ip forwarding enabled. Personally i'd recommend using a firewall front end such as firestarter, which i've used for a while with good results. it will do both parts at the same time. i've heard people mention that the firewall scripts it produces are less than perfect, but i've not had any problem.

none GUI based?????
Firestarter looks, good, thanks, will it also work in a system without gnome??? If It won't maybe I'll have to go back and install it???? I would like one that is strickly consule based. Running it on a old PC with a small hd. Would like to keep it small, but If I have to installe gnome, I will. Thanks for the input!!!

all that unnecessary punctuation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

i'm pretty sure firestarter is only gtk based, not actaully gnome based. i'm sure there are others similar, i've just never needed anything else. you could always write the script by hand if you want to!
