linux router/firewall

Hi,
I'm keen to hear from anyone who has used a routing distro with any success.
I initially set up a debian box as a router and eventually got it to work but I found manually editing IPTables tedious.

I decided to try untangle. However, It didn't seem to, sort of like, well, work.
Anyone else here used it?
After being forced to subscribe to use the thing, I don't have permission to write on their forum so I think it's the end for untangle for me.
Any other suggestions?
Smoothwall? others?
Should I just revert to using a general distro and configuring manually?
Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

ive been using IPCop for near a decade now and love it. I will be moving to IPFire when my ISP converts over to IPv6 as IPCop does not support IPv6 and is getting a bit long in the tooth, but still works great for my home protection.

I have used Monowall as a simple firewall to safe guard a couple of things. It was a simple setup with a nice interface and if I remember correctly it did have support for IPv6 but required a second instance of Monowall to be running.
