Linux (redhat 8) Netgear ethernet fa311 problems

Hi !
I have been trying to configure my linux (redhat 8) to a new ethernet card (Netgear fa311) .
What do I have to do , I installed it and it said it detected it .

I have a broadband connection , Cable modem and a cable router through which my windows based pc is linked .

HOw do I make my linux machine get connected to the internet . I
am pretty to new to this job , so would great appreciate your detailed email , if you get a chance .

How exactly is the windows PC's networking setup ? It may be using DHCP, in which case you need to tell redhat to use DHCP to configure the network card. Then, providing all the information required is passed from the router to the linux box, it should simply work..

If not, please post your windows config up here (ip address, subnet mask, DNS and default route) i'll take a look and give more info from there.
