I did the same last Saturday using
uShare.
In order to install it you need to have
libupnp installed.
Compilation for this and installation is pretty straight forward.
The only painful thing was to compile
libdlna.
It requires libavformat which is part of ffmpeg, but looks for them in the wrong place, namely an ffmpeg folder of wherever you have your libraries.
BUT: It works
without libdlna!
Once installed you can start uShare as daemon and add shares, or add them later through the webpage.
Code:
ushare -D -n servername -c /dir1 , dir2, ...
You can also have it read the configuration file ushare.conf
I was unhappy not having a working rc.ushare to start the daemon at boot.

I will personally look into other upnp servers like
MediaTomb or others to see if I can find a better one.
