Linux - Playstation3 and uPnP

I've got a Linux (Slackware 11) firewall running IPtables with 3 nics.
eth0 goes to DSL modem which runs in bridge mode
eth1 - DMZ which connects to a wireless AP (Netgear)
eth2 - internal net

I've just got myself a PS3 which connects to the wireless AP in the DMZ - the internet connectivity to the PS3 is working 100%

I'm also running TVersity on my internal Windows machine (Its a uPnP media server). I'm now trying to get my PS3 to see the media server - keeps saying it can't find it.

Having read up a bit on uPnP I'm even more confused - it should just work

On the firewall I can see the uPnP broadcast from the PS3 to 239.255.255.250 which doesn't ever get to my tversity server.

I've read something about needing to install upnpd (http://www.ruwebit.net/article/77) on the firewall - which I did but still can't get it working.

Anyone got a similiar setup to this? Do I need to run upnpd on the FW? Is it just a routing issue? I've setup routing for 239.0.0.0 and created FW rules but it didnt help.

Any other ideas would be appreciated - I'm just about tried everything!

Hi, gregmcc

I did the same last Saturday using uShare.
In order to install it you need to have libupnp installed.

Compilation for this and installation is pretty straight forward.

The only painful thing was to compile libdlna.
It requires libavformat which is part of ffmpeg, but looks for them in the wrong place, namely an ffmpeg folder of wherever you have your libraries.

BUT: It works without libdlna!

Once installed you can start uShare as daemon and add shares, or add them later through the webpage.
Code:
ushare -D -n servername -c /dir1 , dir2, ...
You can also have it read the configuration file ushare.conf
I was unhappy not having a working rc.ushare to start the daemon at boot.
There are also slackware packages on http://www.slacky.eu

I will personally look into other upnp servers like MediaTomb or others to see if I can find a better one.

MediaTomb is nice. It uses a database and sorts files in all kinds of cathegories.
Especially music is organized in many ways (Year, Gender, Artist, Album, etc)
I was not able to make configure find SQLite.

You need quite some packages to compile it:
faac
lame
faad2
libdvdnav
ffmpeg
libdvdread
ffmpegthumbnailer
libmp4v2
id3lib
x264
js
xvidcore

You can mostly find them on SLACKBUILDS dot org

And Important:
DO NOT use the latest release. The Source Package mediatomb-0.11.0.tar.gz was packaged before April 2008 and will give you an error while compiling.
Code:
"curl_easy_setopt" requires 3 arguments, but only 2 given
They probably forgot to repackage after the patching. So, get the latest development code:
Code:
svn co https://svn.mediatomb.cc/svnroot/mediatomb/trunk/mediatomb mediatomb
