Linux Newbie - trouble sharing between Mandrake and XP
Hi all, I'm a complete newbie and I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up my Mandriva OS to be read by my Windows XP computer in the next room. I've been sharing every folder I have, but I've been frustrated because I'm so used to Windows just recognizing another connection is on the LAN and is sharing files, but with Linux I can't figure out why it won't show up on the Windows computer.
I've been following the magazine that came with my Linux CDs and trying to understand what to do, and it's been weird for me because I considered myself somewhat of a Windows advanced user but I switched to Linux as I heard it was a much better OS and I'm having a lot of trouble understanding all this jargon. So as politely as I can say this: Please pretend that you're telling a 5 year old how to do this instead of "Oh yeah well just take the samba.jrobg, type in the command fhuwanfea.apifh -e alifnaw and you should be set kthx." because I will have no idea what you're saying and be even more frustrated that Linux isn't half as easy as everybody said it was.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
