Linux Network Typologies

Hello to everyone. I am a newbie to Linux so please bare with me.

This is my second go round with Linux as the first time I severely lacked motivation. I used to do some low level Linux administration in 2004/2005 and that was the last time I worked with Linux.

I am currently an onsite tech in a Windows shop for the last 8 years handling everything from network issues to desktop support.

I am currently taking a LINUX Administration class and wondered if the network typologies used in Windows (Star, Ring, Bus,...) and the designs (hierarchial, two tiered collapsed,...) are the same in a Linux network as in Windows.

I have tried to research my question and was shocked when I could not find anything.

I should add I am new to forums too so please forgive me while i am learning the etiquette.

Yes.

I should point out that the topologies and designs you mention are completely OS independent, not to mention most of it predates Windows itself.
