Linux FC2, WIN & MAC - Won't log on
I'm using Fedora Core 2 to connect to a Windows 2k machine and a Mac OSX machine. These connections worked previously under FC1.
1. On the Gnome desktop I can find the network and the individual computers. When I try to browse the files on the other computers I have problems.
1.a On the Windows machine I get an error stating that I don't have the proper permissions. This is startling as I am used to being prompeted with a login dialog at this point. I am curious where the log in dialog went.
1.b On the Mac machine I get nothing. No permissions error, no login dialog, no directories - nada. Again, this is suspicious as it was working fine under FC1.
2. Under KDE I can find the network and the other machines.
2.a I can log into the Windows machine, but even using the correct name and password I get the same permissions error.
2.b I can see the Mac machine in KDE, but I still get the same results as above.
User accounts on the remote machines are set up and working fine as I can login to the MAc machine from the Windows machine.
findsmb reports that these machines exist.
I'm probably missing something small, but googling this problem keeps leading me back here. Searching here keeps leading me to a dead end. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
