linux dhclient kill throwing signal error

I have specified requirement of stopping/not sending DHCPREQUEST by the dhclient once the IP is received.

Solution:
1. Tried with killing the dhclient once the ip address is assigned.
- But the issue with this is it is not an graceful shutdown.

> Kindly propose me alternative, of not sending the DHCPREQUEST once it is set.

> Also let me know of the downfall of this requirement.

Thanks in Advance

dhclient won't contact the DHCP server until it wants a new lease. If you don't want the load on the DHCP server, then make the leases longer.

Would this be an good option to add below line?

supersede dhcp-lease-time -1; in dhclient.conf

Kindly Suggest me the downfall with the above option.

1> Since we are superseding DHCP Server overwrites,One possible downfall is once the DHCP Server is restarted, this particular ip would be available again to be assigned to other dhcpclients on DHCPREQUEST and there would be an conflict? Am I correct on this understanding?

Thanks in Advance

It should be OK if the server has address conflict detection.
