Linux client with MS ISA (proxy) server, etc.

I take care of unix (mostly solaris with some linux) subnet within a network which has MS network server(s). For some reason, attmpts from *nix boxes to go through MS-ISA proxy server to get to the Net keeps failing authentication. Has anyone experienced something like this and have tips to get around the problem? I also have similar problem when trying to access MS Outlook server with POP3. In this case, all the "\" in the MS domain name-username combination becomes "/" when received by the Outlook server, thus failing the login and authentication. This symptom appears for various mail clients on the *nix box, including StarOffice. Strangely, I can send mail through the MS servers pretty much anywhere. I would very much appreciate your help.

Hia,

Maybe your ISA server uses Kerberos for authentication ?!?
I did a samba fileserver and can say MS and Linux are not easy to handle together.

May the power be with you to find a solution :)

P.S : I got another Idea.. maybe the ISA uses your DC for authorisations ?
If you have a DC, is it used as a DHCP also ?
DC == Domain Controller

I had the same problems!
And I am still looking for answers!
I have found a way of working around the outlook!!
samba client and lisa!
enter your username and password and run lisa as root!
Using any mail client that uses pop3 protocol simply use the ip adress of the server! instead of the netbios name!!
do a ping from a dos prompt to find the ip adress!!
Also if you are using MS exchange 2000 this will probably be very useful!
http://www.ximian.com/products/connector/
to be able to access all the shared folders and adress books!
I'm still looking around for the proxy but i think it should be feasable! please let me know if anything is found!
