Linux as Proxy Server

helo everybody..
nice to meat you all.

im running a net caffe in pakistan.but here are some speed problam..and i want to build a proxy server using linux OS...

so plz anyone guide me..which Linux Version..we should use..

either use a purpose built proxy firewall like ipcop or smoothwall, or use absolutely any standard fully featured distro at all.

Smoothwall is the easy way. Just install on a dedicated PC (doesn't have to be that big) and set up with the web interface. Has transparent proxy included as well as firewall and IDS...

acid_kewpie 01-04-2006 07:35 AM

... but not as many features as ipcop.

amosf 01-04-2006 08:03 AM

ipcop is good too. either one. smoothwall probably has enough features for the normal user tho...
