Linux and Windows Networking - SAMBA

I setup SAMBA and can connect my Mandrake box to NT domain and can see it from all window servers. But the question is, is it possible to see the Windows Servers from my Mandrake box? I want to put all Mandrake box backups onto Windows Server. Right now I am doing backup to Mandrake box, then manually copying it to Windows Server. Can you "Map" a directory from Windows server on Mandrake box?

Hi!
Yes, you can.
mount -t smbfs //where/ever/the/shared/directory/is /any/mountpoint/in/your/LX

if you want to mount as user, you have to input an entry in sudoers, and use mount with sudo.

Else you can mount as root and set an uid.

Regards
Adrian

Allright, you'll need to open up a terminal and type su to become root. Switch to the /mnt directory. Make a directory with the mkdir command and call it whatver you want. Now type
mount -t smbfs //COMPUTERNAME/SHARENAME /mnt/NEW_DIR
You can then change to the directory a ls should show folders from the other computer. If you don't know the SHARENAME use
nmblookup -A IP_ADDRESS, it should give you the names of the shares available.

Goto RPMFIND.net and down load LinNeighborhood or maybe in ur distribution. U use it like anyother NFS by simply mount them. U need to have samba installed to use it however but it makes much easier than typing in all that commands. Check it out a good program by a german programmer?

Thank you to that programmer!
