Linux & Windows Networking Issue

Just so everyone knows, I would not normally ask a question concerning a Windows problem, but I have no where else to turn.

I just installed a DLink router/firewall for my high-speed connection, and both Linux and BeOS work fine, as well as another Windows based PC. However, my PC, when I boot to Win, will not network or connect to the internet.

I have tryed reinstalling the stack and NIC drivers, but still to no avail. Of course, I did everything the DLink manual told me, and my Windows will not work.

Does anyone have ideas?

can your windows machine ping the router or firewall's ip address? that is where i would start to check any type of connectivity.

so if the network card is working, with no conflicts, and all the settings are correct i assume, not sure what would prevent from connecting. the machine is connected directly to the router?

win2k? win98?
pull up a dos box, and try
> ipconfig
Check to make sure you're on the same subnet as your linux & router.
I assume DHCP is on in your router.. I believe DLink assigns the 192.168.1.x range.

Assuming win is using DHCP client, try
> ipconfig /renew
and see if it grabs an address. If you're not using DHCP in win, then you'll have to manually set it in network properties.

If all fails, go a little lower.. Is tcp/ip installed for the device? Is the driver installed correctly? Is the address/IRQ correct? Does plug-n-pray see it correctly? Is the hardware at fault? Bad nic? faulty cable? dust?? hehe
