What do you mean by concerns? By a network, I'm guessing you mean when they're both connected to a workgroup. I'm sorry I'm not really sure what you mean by concerns - please explain.
To allow a Linux box to connect to a Windows network, you need to have Samba and smbfs installed. There are some very good guides on the internet about how to set up Samba so that you can workgroup youself with Windows computer, and be able to transfer data to and from them. My favourite Samba guide is from
Ubuntuguide - if you're not using Ubuntu, just get the packages in whatever way your distro allows and from there you can follow the non-distro specific stuff in the guide.
You can always just follow the
Samba documentation. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I don't really understand what you mean by "concerns". It's pretty much the same as putting another Windows box on the network, so what's the concern?
