This is a very broad and general question so there could be many things wrong with it.
1) do you have samba running? I use smb4k and it makes networking Linux and Windows very simple.
2) did you add users/groups in your Linux and Windows?
3) are your folders set to share (note that by default you cannot share your /home directory)?
ok want i meant was is that i want to access the windows machine from the linux machine to access a folder on the windows machine
and put it on the linux machine and the error report is what the linux machine is throwing up i hope this has helped narrow the subject many thanks
If you cant get the user names set up on the linux box properly, i have found you can use a program such as linneigborhood to mount the shared folders as it prompts you for your user name and password.
I get the same error as you if i try to access my windows pc using Nautilus and the command smb://*********** but i am able to access my shared files using linneighborhood.
