linux & mediaone
Hi,
I have linux 6.2. I have windows 2000 and I have AT&T broadband (formerly mediaone). I dont know how to get online with linux and cable modem. Now, the computer that I am on, is a computer that is setup through my network. I am using internet sharing. Can anyone give me some help or tell me where to get some help on getting online. Please.
Thanks

couple of options
I assume you are using ICS on your Win2k box. Have you tried pointing your Linux box to your gateway (win2k machine)?
I would recomend getting a router. You can get one these days real cheap-like. It will give you more flexibility and SECURITY. I dont believe MS ICS has any firewall set or packet filtering abilities.
laters,
jason

Could you describe the physical connections of your network in a little more detail.
For example:
- which computer is connected to the cable modem, and what OS is it running?
- what computer(s) connect to it, what OS they are running?
- what model(s) of network cards do you have?
- are you using a hub/switch/router in any of this?
