Linux & adsl

The Mandrake 8.0 had a really great way to setup the internet connection (during install), but the 9 beta its immpossible to get it to work....

OK then I went back from mandrake 9 beta to Redhat 7.3 (ADSL still not working)

I have a pci lan card connected directly to my ADSL modem. I`ve done the adsl-setup script, and have checked, if the user/pass is ok in the pap and chap, but it still wont go. I think the problem may lay in the lan card setup?

Help!

My old Nokia M11 was a lan connected adsl.
It was just a couple of static ip numbers on the same subnet, 192.168.1.254 for the M11 and 192.168.1.1 for my pc.
I set my gateway setting to 192.168.1.254 and whizzoo..
(I chose not to use the M11 dhcp)

Is your's any different?

Regards,
Peter

I have an Nokia 5921 (1 x rj45, 1 x phone cord)
Hmm...
Ok I`ll try static ip...

The connection error message (ADSL-START) is:
Timed out /usr/bin/adsl-start: line 191: 17294 Terminated $CONNECT "$@" >/dev/null 2>&1

Ok, I`m rebooting back to linux to try the Static stuff...
(I´ts becoming a real drag to reboot the pc to go to windows just for the Internet)

Ok! I`ve playd with it for some time now, but with no succsess

I gave the nic a static ip. After that when I tied to connect the activity led on the modem blinked more often, but I got a similar message...
Could there be more problems with the nic?
Ps! I have an "@" in the user name, could that be a problem?
